IT Applications Support Engineer - Harrogate - £20k - £30k

Harrogate based (although occasional travel to sites within the UK may be required at times).

My client are recruiting for an IT Applications Support Engineer with 2+ years 1st/2nd line support who is looking to build on their skills, has all round good support knowledge but a leaning towards software and applications, reporting to the Support Team Leader and working alongside the development team. This role will grow over time with the opportunity to learn new skills and technologies as the role and company expand and grow.

  • An interest in developing your skills/understanding of applications and software
  • An interest in new developments in IT

What you'll do…

  • Communicate with users to find, diagnose and fix problems
  • Track work in progress and record issues and solutions
  • Update online knowledge banks
  • Set up new applications and upgrade existing systems
  • Work with internal and external clients to create new content for existing system such as E-cert and Training Post (iLearning)
  • Support internally developed applications and provide an interface between end users and the development team
  • Work with external software providers to feed new software, features etc. to the rest of the team/company
  • Contribute ideas for new applications and new features in existing applications
  • Provide face-to-face training to computer users and create training documentation
  • Support customer facing products



  • 2+ Years support experience (1st/2nd line)
  • General support experience in a corporate Microsoft environment
  • Remote support tools

Nice to haves

  • SQL
  • Office 365
  • Some knowledge of basic web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and software development (C#)
  • Powershell
